Entryway makeover

Less about aesthetic, more about function.

This was an interesting change for me because it was less about needing a cosmetic update and more about what works better for us. The previous owner created a nice entrance with custom touches, they just weren’t meant for us and how we want our entry to function.

The custom baby/doggo gate was beautiful but had to go because it just felt in the way. When it was open, it would completely block the entrance tot he bathroom to the right so we had that removed and drywall repaired the same time that we swapped out the front door. Adding coat hooks was another decision in adding functionality that wasn’t there before.

The front dolor change was for a few reasons:

  1. I don’t like glass coming down the length of the door—it feels less secure to me.

  2. Since painting the exterior of the house black, it was important to me to have a warm door that felt inviting to bring balance. The old door felt a little cold to me.

  3. I wanted a style of door that felt a little more on par with the style of the house—slightly craftsman/transitional and not so mod.

I’m happy with how the window pane runner plays with the window panes of the door too 😇
